TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The town of Aptos sits elegantly in a pristine natural setting, between the lush redwoods of The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park and the waters of the Monterey Bay. Aptos was historically known for logging and the industry nearly ended up wiping out the redwood forests. Thanks to the purchase and eventual donation of land by nature enthusiast Nisene Marks, the redwoods could be regenerated, and today are a point of pride for the town. Visitors will find numerous trails to navigate the spectacular second-growth forest. On the other end of town, Seacliff State Beach is perfect for a day out on the beach. The Aptos History Museum traces the town's eventful history from the time it was settled by the native Ohlone Indians.
