Like many small towns in California, Red Bluff too came into existence after the discovery of gold in Yreka, the town evolving simultaneously with several others in the valley. The town is more attractive from a residential perspective, but nonetheless, it is home to Gaumer's Jewelry & Musuem, a couple of great wineries, and a beautiful catholic church. The downtown area too is full of turn-of-the-century historic buildings, the most notable one being the Odd Fellows Building.
