Located in Indiana's Lake County, Whiting is a charming old city that was founded in 1889. Home to Whiting Refinery, the largest oil refinery in the Midwest, the city flourished in the 19th Century. Its rich heritage can be witnessed through a number of historic buildings that dot its picturesque, quaint landscape. Whiting is also home to the Mascot Hall Of Fame, which honors various mascots and characters from colleges and professional sports clubs. The Whiting Lakefront Park, with its beautiful waterside location, also makes for an ideal family attraction in the town.
