Australia Zoo

The Australia Zoo first opened in 1970 as the Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park. It was the vision of Bob and Lyn Irwin, the parents of famed croc-wrangler Steve Irwin, and while the local wildlife park has since grown into a world-class zoo, it remains committed to providing both care and fun under the ownership of daughter-in-law Terri Irwin. Visitors can attend regular demonstrations to learn about the zoo's native and exotic species before checking out its giant saltwater crocodiles, some caught by the one and only "Crocodile Hunter" himself. Snakes are another popular feature, and brave guests can even have their pictures taken with python. Those more interested in cuddly creatures may prefer the koala exhibit. With so much to do and see, the Australian Zoo is a great place to spend an hour or a full day.
