Harrodsburg is a city and the county seat of Kentucky's Mercer County. Widely considered the oldest city in the state as well as the oldest permanent American settlement west of the Appalachians, Harrodsburg is a historic abode steeped in rich and intriguing history. The downtown is a mix of local shops, eateries and historic buildings that complete its rustic charm, making for a unique touristy getaway. One of the main attractions in the town is the Old Fort Harrod State Park, which is home to a reconstructed model of Fort Harrod, the first permanent American settlement in Kentucky.
