Place des Lices

As one of the most famous areas in St. Tropez, the Place des Lices is the heart of the town. It is here that boules (a sport related to Bocce ball) players battle it out from dawn till dusk, in scenes that are reminiscent of Marcel Pagnol. The area is very pleasant in summer, thanks to the shade of the trees. Both the young and old can be found here and the terrace cafes are very popular. The Saturday morning market that takes place here sells excellent fruit and vegetables, as well as regional specialties.
