The Hafenrevier (harbour district) has changed considerably ever since it became obvious that the shipbuilding industry was in a state of irreversible decline. Pier 2 is the district's main success story. Located in the shadows of an enormous turn-of-the-century warehouse, this former boathouse was converted into a cultural center and now attracts party-goers and culture enthusiasts from all over the region.
