The Lake Worth Playhouse, founded in 1953, continues to grow and thrive in its historic downtown Lake Worth location. The main stage, formerly a vaudeville house, was built in 1924 and seats 300. Showing more than 100 performances per year, which include dance, plays, musicals and children's productions, it takes a great deal of pride in its status as a community theater, and gives credit for its growth to local volunteers. The Playhouse also houses the Stonzek Black Box Theatre, a cinema.
