The Ruhrstadion is a premier football venue in the city of Bochum. Home of the VFL Bochum team, this stadium was built in 1921 and since then has existed under several names. Though the stadium’s name has been changed to rewirpowerSTADION since 2006, it is still quite popular as the Ruhrstadion. Boasting a capacity of about 29,299 spectators, this stadium has hosted some very prominent matches including the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Apart from soccer, the stadium also plays host to concerts and other cultural events, having hosted stars like David Bowie in the past.
