One of the oldest towns on Cape Cod, Chatham is replete with historic landmarks and beaches that unspool beneath cloud-flecked skies. The first settlers arrived here in the mid 17th Century, and their legacy persists in the form of quaint mills and houses dotting the landscape. One of the town's best-known attractions is Chatham Lighthouse (Twin Lights), built in 1808. It is also equally famous for Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, a haven for migratory birds and aquatic species. Tourists can also walk along Main Street to discover a beautiful coastal town with a whimsical mix of Colonial and modern architecture.
