ENTERTAINMENT VENUES, TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING
Wembley Stadium is a 90,000-seat outdoor venue that hosts some of the best sporting events and concerts in the UK. The original Wembley Stadium was built in 1923 and closed in 2000. Ground broke on the new stadium in 2002, and in 2007, it officially opened to an exciting FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United. Home to more than just the FA Cup Final and Semi Finals, Wembley Stadium also hosts the Senior England Home Internationals, Community Shield, and FA Carlsberg Vase and Trophy Finals, as well as a regular lineup of soccer and rugby matches. Beyond the world of sports, it also serves as a top concert venue, bringing in some of the biggest names in music. Wembley Stadium is a striking landmark with a partly retractable roof and 440-foot (134-meter) arch, making it as great a backdrop for a photo op as it is for a cultural event.
