TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, ENTERTAINMENT VENUES
Inaugurated in September 2009, the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (also known as "The Kate") honors the late actress in Old Saybrook. The Shoreline's premier entertainment venue, The Kate hosts stand-up comedy, theatrical performances, live music, and lectures throughout the year. The facility is housed in what used to be Old Saybrook's historic City Hall, which was built in 1910, with its theater being able to accommodate as many as 250 guests. In 2007, the landmark was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and continues to serve as a prominent attraction in Old Saybrook.
