Opened in 1924, Capitol Theatre is a non-profit theater is run by volunteers of the Olympia Film Society. Going off the beaten track, the theater showcases an alternative line-up of motion pictures. From independent films and foreign documentaries, to artsy and indie titles, their screenings are a big draw among cinema buffs. Located in the heart of downtown, it seats up to 2,500 and plays host to the city's annual film festival as well as an array of special events.
