The Lyric Theatre is the oldest on Shaftesbury Avenue. It opened in 1888 with a comic opera and now caters for all tastes with a range of shows, including plays and musicals. Despite the diversity of shows and its prime West End location, this medium-sized theater seats only 932 people (a relatively small-scale player for the West End) and has a wonderfully warm atmosphere. There are three bars so waiting in line for a drink during the interval is rarely a problem.
