The Monument Square in the heart of Woonsocket is home to one of the oldest standing theaters in Rhode Island - the Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre. Built in 1926, the theater was known for its artistic decor which was built around around the theme of Greek Muses, and was a focal point for various cultural activities. The theater is today owned by the Stadium Theatre Foundation, which worked extensively for the theater's restoration during 1980s and 1990s.
