Dax Cathedral is one of the prominent historical sites of Dax city in Landes département. The ornate Roman Catholic cathedral traces its origins to the late years of the 13th Century when the city was flourishing, with a lot of industrial and economic activity taking place. Construction of this Greek Revival marvel started in the 17th Century and was completed in the 19th Century. From the earlier structure that stood at its site, the Gothic gate is still extant. The cathedral building is also home to some wonderful art works, notable among them is the mural depicting 'Jesus and His Disciples' by the celebrated 17th-century artist Gerrit van Honthorst.
