First capitalizing on its status as a laid-back retirement town, it quickly changed gears after a UFO incident where debris resembling a UFO or a flying saucer was recovered here in 1947. Since then, Roswell has earned popularity for being a town visited by aliens, drawing hordes of tourists and sci-fi enthusiasts to the town.
