The Philharmonie in Haarlem is part of the city's breathing, living history: it dates back to 1872 and has since been retrofitted to accent the building's best architectural and acoustic qualities while improving upon them. The imposing Cavaille-Coll organ is here, and while most of the interior halls are build of wood for acoustics, the exterior of the Philharmonie is encased in glass and printed with a graphic notation of the composition Bells for Haarlem by Louis Andriessen. National dance performances, musicals and classical concerts are held here, visit website for program details and more information.
