The hand-painted frescoes, the bas-relief décor, the fountains, the polished wood floors, the ornate ceilings and the abundant flowers all contribute to class and elegance that is practically beyond words. A favorite since 1923, and a member of Historic Hotels of America, this famed hotel hosted the Academy Awards during the 1930s and 1940s. Guests have included dignitaries like Winston Churchill, Presidents Kennedy, Ford, Carter and Reagan, as well as British royalty.
