Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto opened in 1965 in the Pampulha neighborhood of Belo Horizonte – an area famous for its artificial lake, art, and architecture. The second largest soccer stadium in Brazil (only smaller than Maracana), Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto had been completely revamped to host the World Cup games in 2014. Unlike most stadiums in Brazil, it does not belong to a specific club, but two: Atletico and Cruzeiro, the two main clubs in the state of Minas Gerais. It houses shops, around 60 snack bars and the Museum of Brazilian Soccer. You can get tickets for the Museum and guided tours of the stadium, which happen hourly Monday to Saturday for groups of up to 40 people.
