Schloss Landestrost is a Weser Renaissance castle dating back to the 16th Century, and was the seat of the Duke Erich II. The entire structure underwent a massive renovation between 1985 to 1991. The Stiftung Kulturregion Hannover bought this castle in 1997 and provides guided tours of the building. Its cellars are used by Sektkellerei Dupre while the Torfmuseum, municipal library and Archiv der Region Hannover are based in its complex. The castle is also used for cultural events such as Renaissancefest and MASALA Weltbeat-Festival.
