Named after the former chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh, Rufus H. Fitzgerald, The Fitzgerald Field House was built in 1951 and since then has been home to the university's wrestling, gymnastics and volleyball programs. In addition to this, this state-of-the-art sports facility is also used as the indoor training facility for the university's track and field team. The Fitzgerald Field House has over the years played host to various national level volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling events. The world-class gym at this facility is used by all the athletes of the university from across different sports for strength training and conditioning.
