The Burpee Museum of Natural History is located along the Rock River in the heart of the city. The museum features unique and magnificent exhibits that include a 21-foot well-preserved juvenile T-rex called Jane, numerous other fossils, an exciting recreated Carboniferous forest as it existed hundreds of millions of years ago, native American artifacts, and much more. The exhibits are very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any questions you may have. The Burpee Museum of Natural History is a city gem, an integral piece of the puzzle that is historic Rockford and a must visit when in the city.
