Featuring
Widely known as a founding member of Grateful Dead, Bob Weir is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from San Francisco who pioneered his own style of complex voiceleading that gave unusual depth to the role of rhythm guitar. After Grateful Dead formed in 1965, he spent the next 30 years doing his part in developing the band's signature sound. When the group officially broke up in 1995 after the death of front man Jerry Garcia, Weir formed The Other Ones with his ex-band mates Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart, who released one album, 1999's The Strange Remain, before changing their project's name to The Dead. Apart from his work with Grateful Dead members, Weir founded and played in several different other projects including Kingfish, Bobby and the Midnites and Scaring the Children. He once again joined his longtime collaborator Lesh to form Further in 2009, and brought the jam band on the road to perform songs from the extensive Grateful Dead songbook as well as its own compositions.
