The Yarmouth Clam Festival is an annual event held in Yarmouth, ME which begins on the third Friday every July. It is organized by the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce with the aim of helping churches, schools and other non-profit organizations. This fun affair features multiple attractions for people of all age groups, such as a parade, fireworks display, food and drinks stalls. It also features clam-shucking contests and races for children and adults alike. Over the years, it has developed the tradition of allowing each organization to hold the right to sell a particular dish. Hence, visitors can visit the Barbershop Harmony Society's stall for some Lime Rickeys, the Yarmouth Lions Club's booth for some Lemon Lucy slush and stalls of the Yarmouth High School for some good old hamburgers and hotdogs, among others.
