Alexander O'Neal is an R&B vocalist from Mississippi who spent his early years playing in rock and roll bands before embarking on a solo career in the mid-1980s. After dropping his 1985 eponymous debut album, he teamed up with singer Cherrelle for the duet "Saturday Love," which became a critical and commercial hit in the US and the UK. O'Neal delivered several other hit singles on his subsequent albums well into the 1990s, and although his mainstream thunder had died down by the 21st century, he continues to churn up his signature brand of R&B and soul music with records such as 2010's Five Questions: The New Journey.
