One of the best-known rock acts to emerge out of Switzerland, Patent Ochsner is an alternative rock band that was formed in 1990. Hailing from Bern, Switzerland the band has always performed songs in a Swiss German dialect known as Alemannic German. Patent Ochsner's 1991 debut album Schlachtplatte, features the hit song "Bälpmoos" which earned considerable radio play and put the band on the map as an up and coming act in the booming alternative music scene. With its follow-up effort Fischer, released in 1993, the band was catapulted to national fame. Despite Patent Ochsner's commercial success, the band took a five-year break from 1997 to 2002 before recording and releasing its fifth studio album in 2003, titled Trybguet.
