The highly respected and highly prolific producer, guitarist and composer, Arto Lindsay is well known in music circles around the world. Though he was born in the US, he spent most of his formative years in Brazil during the height of the Tropicalia movement, which has been tremendously influential in Lindsay's music. After moving back to the states, Lindsay formed the no wave band DNA, which received attention from Brian Eno and initiated Lindsay into the world of experimental composers. Lindsay went on to collaborate with John Zorn and played in many avant-garde music groups throughout the 1980s. In the 1990s, Lindsay returned to Brazil to produce the work of Tropicalia greats like Caetano Veloso and Gal Costa, which inspired him to begin creating solo albums showcasing his history with bossa nova as well as experimental noise. Now based out of New York, Lindsay still performs, produces and writes new material.
