Big Sam's Funky Nation

As a former member of the popular Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Sammie "Big Sam" Williams knows a thing or two about New Orleans-style jazz/funk fusion. Now with a group all his own, the animated trombone player fronts Big Sam's Funky Nation, a five-piece band that represents New Orleans' diverse musical landscape via a lively blend of pop, R&B, rock, jazz and soul. The band has become a staple at music festivals all over the country, thanks in large part to the dance-friendly nature of its music. Appearances at Bonnaroo, South by Southwest and Austin City Limits have helped raise Big Sam's Funky Nation to prominence in the eyes of fans of horn-driven funk fusion.
