Buraka Som Sistema

Kuduro, a type of music formed in Angola, found its way to Portugal in the 90s becoming a huge influence in Portuguese pop music. Buraka Som Sistema is credited for generating a progressive Kuduro movement as they began infusing Kuduro beats with techno rhythms in 2006. Their blend of electronic dance beats and the traditional Kuduro sound became a hit among Portuguese club goers, launching a new movement. Despite their lyrics being in Portuguese, Buraka Som Sistema’s creative sounds are heard and played around the world.
