Pierre Bensusan is a French-Algerian guitar player who rose to notoriety in the mid-1970s with a unique style of acoustic guitar playing that seems to speak to the Bensusan's own personal roots as a Parisian who comes from Northern Africa. Some call his style world music or new age--quite possibly because of the unique DADGAD tuning system he has on his guitar--but a more appropriate genre tag for the talented six-sting player would be chamber jazz. Though Bensusan has maintained a fairly sporadic record release schedule, he has managed to hold onto a strong sense of artistic purity in the majority of his music.
