The Terrier is the moniker of the 21 varsity sports teams at the Boston University. The athletic programs include women's ice hocky, lacross, rowing, soccer and basketball while the men's teams include basketball, cross country, soccer and swimming. Unlike many D-1 universities, the school is notably missing a baseball and football program. The Terriers compete in the Patriot League, with the exception of its hockey teams, which happen to be the school's most notable. Completing in the Hockey East league, the men's ice hockey team has won the national championship on several occasions starting in 1971.
