Pimp C (1973-2007) was the stage name for Chad Lamont Butler, a Southern hip-hop artist, rapper and producer from Port Arthur, Texas who was best known as a founding member of Underground Kingz (UGZ) as well as one of the greatest pioneers of Houston, Texas' now legendary underground rap scene. Pimp C formed the famed rap group Underground Kingz with friend Bernard "Bun B" Freeman in the late 1980s, and both went on to lead an incredibly successful career as a duo until the former's incarceration in 2002. The rapper continued to record while he was in prison, and only a few years after his release, Pimp C was found dead as a result of an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
