Bobby Vinton is an American pop singer known for his smooth, crooning style and for his versions of songs such as "Blue Velvet" and "Roses Are Red (My Love)." He began performing around the Pittsburgh area while he was still in his teens, singing for a local group in the early-1950s. Following a couple of stints in the military, Vinton found himself signed to Epic Records starting in 1960. His early songs slowly but surely found a following, as American listeners took to his velvety voice and vocal pop style. Popular through the 1970s and to varying degrees ever since, Vinton has sold over 75 million records in his long-lasting career. He continues to perform at his own Bobby Vinton Blue Velvet Theatre in Missouri, in addition to occasional touring stints.
