Starting his music career as a member of the group Explicit Lyrics, Jarle Bernhoft is a singer/songwriter from Norway who played with a series of bands before embarking on a solo career. Known simply as Bernhoft, he released his first solo effort in 2008 titled Ceramik City Chronicles--an album heavily inspired by the sounds of soul and funk. Though he earned a fair amount of fame with his debut album, he began receiving world wide attention as an artist with the release of his 2011 album, Solidarity Breakers, which held the number one spot on the Norwegian album chart for nine weeks. Bernhoft has come to be known for his impressive stripped down live performances, during which he constructs layers of sound by looping individual sections of instrumentals and vocals.
