Born to a Nigerian father and German mother, Nneka Egbuna is a soul singer/songwriter whose diverse background gives her music an exotic edge. Having spent her childhood in Nigeria before relocating to Germany at the age of 18, Nneka splits her time between her two homes and sings in both English and Igbo. In 2003 Nneka began working closely with beatmaker DJ Farhot, who helped produce her 2005 debut album, Victim of Truth. Though the album didn't garner strong mainstream attention, it was met with critical accalim. Following the release of her politically driven 2008 album No Longer at Ease, Nneka began touring overseas in Intaly, Fance, Portugal and the US, where her soul/funk fusion offered western audiences a new take on hip hop music.
