Making his debut performance at age 11, Berlin-based jazz musician Roger Cicero began developing his musical style as a child with the help of his father Eugen Cicero. He spent his early adulthood playing with jazz groups such as the Horst Jankowski Trio, the Bundejugendjazzorchester and of course, his fathers band, the Eugen Cicero Trio. Having previously studied piano and guitar, Cicero began taking jazz vocal lessons at the Amsterdam Academy of Arts and has since formed the Roger Cicero Quartet in addition to his own eleven-piece big band. The combination of his 1940s and 1950s swing music as well as his German lyrics have offered German audiences a Westernized and familiar jazz sound, making Cicero a favorite for festivals around Europe including the Montreux jazz Festival in Switzerland. In 2016 Roger Cicero passed away, leaving behind a legacy that spanned over a decade.
