Though Lockett Pundt cuts a diminutive figure for himself while performing next to his outspoken bandmate Bradford Cox in their Atlanta, Georgia-based indie rock group Deerhunter, in his solo endevors, dubbed Lotus Plaza, Pundt is able to properly stretch his sonic aspirations as far as he's willing to take them. Crafting primarily guitar-based rock material, Pundt's Lotus Plaza music isn't a far departure from the work he has helped create with Deerhunter, but there's an overwhelming sense of self-accomplishment that Pundt is able to express though many of his songs. His six-string stylings and myriad of guitar pedals typically take center stage when stacked up against Pundt's oftentimes pacified vocals, but his guitar playing is what truly makes his music listenable, and his guitar discharge helps add dense layers of reverb, compression and distortion to what might be considered otherwise somewhat drab sonic fodder.
