Most geographically encapsulating music has the power to transport its listener to the specific location that the music calls home. A band like, say, the Grateful Dead helps listeners nostalgically think of San Francisco during the glory days of the 60s and a band like Blur or Oasis conjures images of England in the 90s. While these metropolitan areas are pleasant to think about, they really don't compete with extremely relaxing places like the Caribbean or the South Pacific. Fortunately there are bands that are able to intellectually lift people to these areas where warm water waves gently crash on fine white sand beaches. One of these groups is The Caribbean Jazz Project. The group was formed in 1995 and although the band has gone through a number of changes, the act is still considered to be one of the foremost modern Afro-Cuban jazz acts on the scene today.
