Bell Biv Devoe is a contemporary R&B group that emerged out of Boston's beloved outfit New Edition. Formed Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe in the late 1980s while they were still members of New Edition, the band was founded in the late 1980s and quickly made a name for itself on the tour circuit with other groups like Heart Break. After its members decided to split from New Edition and focus solely on the new band, Bell Biv Devoe released its celebrated first album Poison, in 1990 with MCA Records. With the fusion of hip-hop, soul, funk and pop, particularly on the album's iconic title track and other hit singles like "Do Me!", the band skyrocketing to mainstream attention. Though Bell Biv Devoe never managed to outdo its now classic debut, the band continues to release new records and tour internationally.
