A team whose history stretches over a hundred years, Holstein Kiel has been part of the evolution of modern day football. Based in Kiel, Germany, the club was a first division team and a dominating force in the national league in the early 1900s, until the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963 forced it to drop to the lower tier. Since then the club as been a prominent force in tiers 2 and 3, winner numerous lower division titles along the way.
