Utilizing his Mexican-American heritage, David Garza is a singer/songwriter and producer who uses both pop and rock sensibilities to creates Latin-inspired indie music. Based in Austin, he spent his early adulthood in a series of bands including Twang Twan Shock-A-Boom, with which he gained local and critical attention for his Robert Plant-style vocals. After leaving the band to pursue a solo career, Garza assembled a backing band and began playing shows around Texas under the name David Garza & The Lovebeads and eventually DAH-VEED. He released his first nine records on his label Wide Open Records starting with his 1991 debut Just Say Love, and after a short stint with Lava/Atlantic, he started his own major label This Euphoria in 1988. His work as a musician as well as a producer landed him a spot on Austin Chronicle's list of Austin Musicians of the Decade at second place behind Stevie Ray Vaughan. Having released a flurry of albums over a 20 year period, Garza released his 35th studio album Sleep, in 2012.
