Lamin Fofana is an electronic music producer and DJ, and the founder of Sci-fi & Fantasy - a music label that he established in 2012. His debut EP, What Elijah Said, dropped in 2010 and put him on the map as a solo artist, although he had already been on the scene for some time as an avid blogger and producer. Drawing on his life experiences for inspiration, Lamin's music explores the migrant experience through the lens of experimental, ambient and techno music. He grew up in Sierra Leone and Guinea before moving to the United States in his early teens to escape the civil war; now based out of Berlin, Germany, Lamin's music reflects the diversity of his upbringing and the varied musical styles that prevailed at each stage of his life. Complex and otherworldly, his music reflects the diaspora's struggle to define their place in an unfamiliar world through creative expression. Lamin is also an artist, and occasionally exhibits installations featuring original compositions at prestigious events.
