With a long career that began in 1985 after busking in a subway station in Boston, Les Sampou has seen many faddish music styles come and go, but has managed to hold true to making music from one genre over the years: folk. While some might listen to Sampou's music and shake their head at the stereotypical female singer/songwriter quality, others are keen to place a hefty amount of laudatory acclaim on the musician's tunes for their raw lyrical power and tuneful melodies. Though she kicked around the New England music scene during the late-1980s, playing various watering holes and music halls, Sampou didn't release her debut LP, Sweet Perfume, until 1993.
