Mother Falcon is an indie pop-minded classical music collective based out of Austin, Texas. Using multiple cellos and violins, acoustic bass, mandolin, horns, guitar and percussion, the group creates pop song-structured compositions that really utilize the space and characteristics of every instrument being played. This isn't a half-baked band looking to gain credibility by using a classical instrument now and then. Rather, Mother Falcon is made-up entirely of well-trained musicians capable of tastefully adding to the band's songs with a sense of professional grace and restraint. Modern indie music is also a heavy influence on Mother Falcon, well evidenced in the group's use of vocals and grandiose arrangements. Fans of like-minded contemporaries such as Owen Pallet and Beirut will appreciate the band's modern twist on classical music.
