After Canadian-born singer Avril Lavigne secured a contract with Arista Records and released her debut LP, Let Go, in 2002, she managed to become a massively successful commercial musician. With a pop-punk aesthetic and a fairly elementary way of composing songs, Lavigne managed to resonate with a lot of youngsters looking for listening material that resonated well with them. Though the majority of Lavine's erst fans have grown up, and gone on to appreciate a bit more contextually deep music, she still cranks out albums in her characteristic bubblegum-punk style and tour frequently.
