Navaratri, which means nine nights, is a Hindu festival celebrated across India. Although there are four seasonal Navaratris, it is the post-monsoon one, called Sharad Navaratri, which is the most widely observed. Over the course of nine nights and ten days, devotees honor the nine forms of the divine feminine, the Mother Goddess Devi through prayers and fasting. The festivities also include music and dance, recitals, plays and other cultural activities.
