THE GREAT GILBERT TRIBUTE SHOW With Problem Child (on 35mm)
On Sunday, August 4th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater presents THE GREAT GILBERT TRIBUTE SHOW, paying homage to the Amazing Colossal Gilbert Gottfried, whose inimitable comedic voice (and imitable speaking voice) left us far too soon, with a 35mm screening of PROBLEM CHILD (1990) and more added fun and surprises that you could fit on a glass coffee table!
From stand-up to SNL, Aladdin to Aflac, frequent Howard Stern guest shots to FUNKY MONKEY, Gilbert Gottfried was an icon of American comedy, appearing on screens big and small, radio shows and his own AMAZING COLOSSAL PODCAST, with an impish smile and a voice you’d never mistake for Lou Rawls, always quick with a joke or old showbiz reference to bring the house down with laughter. We’re celebrating Gilbert with one of his most popular films, and a night dedicated to his life and work, details to come flying faster than an orange wedge at Cesar Romero!
A 90s comedy classic that spawned two sequels and an animated series, PROBLEM CHILD presents the predicament of a caring couple (John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck) who adopt a little angel (Michael Oliver) who turns out to be anything but, turning their lives upside down. Can love and understanding transform a malevolent moppet into a benevolent bambino? Gilbert plays the adoption agent who’s all too happy to be rid of the titular tot!
We’re working much, much faster than Old Groucho to make this a not-to-be-missed event for fans and friends of the Sultan of Squint, the Slinger of Shriek, the Grandmaster of the Guffaw, the one, the only, Gilbert Gottfried!
