On Thursday, August 15th: THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (1971) on 35mm.

Anarene, Texas, 1951. Nothing much has changed…

Looking for a weeknight reason to celebrate celluloid? Join us at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater for Thursday Thread-Up! From grindhouse to arthouse, cult classics to deep cuts, we present a series of single-feature 35mm screenings several Thursday nights a month, to get you ready for the weekend!

Get ready to take a deep dive into the murky depths of cinema history, lighting up the mighty Mahoning screen with singular sensations several times a month, all season long!

Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show (1971) a small, slice of life film following the lives of several high school students in a small, dried-up Texas town, depicting their coming of age against a stark black-and-white presentation of a time, place, and lives torn between change and stagnation.

Bogdanovich’s breakthrough film is an unforgettable drama and a true master-class in direction.. This evening will serve as a tribute to the life and legacy of Mr. Bogdanovich's career. As much an influence for his undying thirst for hollywood history and insighful interviews with filmmaking legends as his personal work on screen.

An "Actors Director" from the start with an ensamblke including Timothy Bottoms, Cybill Shepherd, Jeff Bridges, Cloris Leachman, Ben Johnson, Ellen Burstyn, Clu Gulager, Eileen Brennan, Sam Bottoms, and Randy Quaid, and garnered multiple Oscar nominations and wins for Johnson and Leachman in supporting roles.

Come to Pennsylvania and spend a cool, quiet night under the stars in the sunny Texas heat.

Gates open at 6pm. Showtime at Sundown.
