On Sunday, July 28th The Mahoning Drive-In Theater presents BAKSHI OR BUST!, a rare 35mm presentation of director Ralph Bakshi’s animated fantasy epic WIZARDS (1977)!
Raplph Baskshi was one of the most unique animators of the 1970s and 80s, pushing the boundaries of style and content in his films, his no-holds-barred approach meeting with various levels of controversy, underground and mainstream success over the decades.
From the X-rated FRITZ THE CAT (1972) to his adaptation of LORD OF THE RINGS (1978), to his collaboration with fantasy artist legend Frank Frazetta, FIRE AND ICE (1983), and his Hollywood mix of live action and animation, COOL WORLD (1992), Bakshi never failed to show audiences something they’d never seen before, and expand the minds of all who witnessed his art.
We present this rare 35mm screening of WIZARDS in tribute to an artist who has inspired generations to think outside the cel, who has entertained, outraged, amused and inspired anyone who’s ever seen his work.
